I am passionate about the water and sanitation sector and tried to develop, over the past 15 years, a general understanding of its various components and their interaction. Through my multidisciplinary background (water management, agro-economics and GIS/geospatial analysis) I look at the sector holistically, from resources to users though systems. My experience with a wide range of organisations (NGOs, international organisations, private consultancies and utilities, public partners, social businesses, think-tanks and research organisations) gave me a strong network and helps me to understand the many stakeholders in the water sector, their respective interests and roles. Having developed this experience in numerous countries, often in urban and peri-urban areas but also in rural areas; and in emergency, rehabilitation and development situations; helps me to search for solutions that fit local contexts. I am currently Head of WASH at the Vitol Foundation, which funds a wide range of water and WASH projects and businesses, and am always happy to help other WASH enthusiasts.
